About Us

Meet the owners

lisaLisa O'Loughlin

Lisa has owned Freeport Tack Company since 2003. She is licensed in Speech Language Pathology, but her strong bond with horses drew her back to the equine industry. Lisa has ridden since she was a child and has a interest in natural horsemanship, dressage and trail riding. She also has a love for all animals and is an active volunteer at a local animal shelter. When not at the store, you can find her spending time with her two "children", Gordon and Jake, her canine rescues.

Thomas A. Judd D.V.M.

tom judd dvmThomas A. Judd, D.V.M. graduated from Michigan State University in 1983. He moved to Maine and worked with Dr. Paul Clukey in Lewiston at a large animal veterinary practice. In 1984 he became co-owner of North Deering Veterinary Hospital, at that time a large mixed animal practice in Portland. After selling North Deering Veterinary Hospital in 1991, Dr. Judd established Equine Veterinary Service, an independent equine preventive medicine practice now located in Gray.

As a member of the International Association of Equine Dentistry, Dr. Judd offers progressive equine dentistry to horses participating in a variety of disciplines.

In addition to his equine practice, Dr. Judd also performs Veterinary Acupuncture on a regular basis. Since 1990 he has treated horses, dogs, cats, rabbits, cattle, goats and pigs with this centuries-old discipline. He finds that acupuncture is most effective in treating musculoskelatal disorders, inflammatory disease and behavioral problems.

Although the veterinary practice is a full-time job, you will also periodically see him at Freeport Tack Company, the tack shop that he co-owns with Lisa O'Loughlin.

Tom lives in Cumberland with rescue dogs Sam, Louie and Sophie (German Shepherds), Prospector (Thoroughbred) and Spot (Paint/Arab Cross).

Meet the staff

laura

Laura - Manager/Full Time

Laura has been working at Freeport Tack Company since November of 2005! She is a very consistent and knowledgeable fixture in the store. You will always get the best of care when she helps you find the right saddle or paddock boot! Look for her here Monday through Friday.

Laura has ridden since the age of 10 and rides and shows a variety of disciplines: hunter/jumper, driving, saddle seat and trail riding. She has a lovely Appaloosa named “Trouble” (who, by the way is the opposite of his name!)

keely

Keely - Sales Associate/Part Time

Keely has been working at Freeport Tack Company since May 2007. You would think she has been here since the beginning as she is an extremely competent sales associate and very knowledgeable about our products.

Keely has been riding most of her life and recently recently acquired a horse of her own! Congratulations Keely! He is a Thoroughbred gelding named Enso. Enso previously raced at Suffolk Downs.

Keely enjoys Eventing and Dressage.

Stephanie

Stephanie has been working at Freeport Tack since June 2011, although you would think she's been here for years! Stephanie is very comfortable around tack and equipment as she has been riding horses since she was 4 years old. Presently, she is focused on dressage and eventing and often attends clinics and shows. She owns 3 horses, Mica, a Morgan, Zephyr, an Appaloosa, and leases Chip, her Hanovarian. She rides and boards at Springpoint Farm in Durham.

Along with working at Freeport Tack and riding horses, Stephanie attends the University of Maine and is working on her bachelor's degree, majoring in forensic biology. She is a busy woman!
